After spending most of the season away at university, Jasper Taylor achieved two feats in one game on Thursday (28/04/2011) during the first teams match v. South Glos. (Hambrook). He came on as a second-half substitute to make his 100th appearance for the club, and then scored his 50th goal with a vital equaliser in the closing minutes to earn a point for the firsts after being 0-2 down.
Julian Venn made his 400th appearance for the club when coming on as a second half substitute during the 4th teams 3-0 midweek (Tuesday 05/04/2011) home victory over AFC Spartans. Congratulations JV.
Sam Payne and Joe 'Lads' Dykes both reached goalscoring landmarks in this weeks games. (26/03/2011) Sam scored his 100th and 101st goals while helping the 2nd Team to a much needed 4-2 home victory over Rockleaze Rangers Res. This is the third consecutive season in which he has scored at least 25 goals. Joe notched his 50th with a fine finish in a MOM performance during the 4th Teams disappointing 1-4 away defeat to St. Annes Town.
Kev Murray had double reason to celebrate this week (05/03/2011). He was part of the 2nd team which enjoyed an excellent 9-0 win over fellow strugglers Keynsham Town 'A'. A match which also saw him make his 100th appearance for FOB. Well done Kev.
Ross Towill will join his dad Chris to receive an appearance award at this years end of season presentation evening. He played his 100th game for the club in the 1st teams 2-2 draw on Saturday (26/02/2011) vs. Almondsbury UWE Res. scoring a goal and being voted MOM for his performance.
Congratulations this week (05/02/2011) go to former Chair, Chris Towill and Jason Kirby.
Chris made his 400th appearance for the club when coming on as a second half substitute for the 3rds in their away match at Hydez. 'Kirbs' joined the 200 club and was made Captain for the day in the 4th teams 4-2 home win over AFC Keynsham, claiming an assist for one of the goals.
Mark Slateford has joined the list of players who have scored 50 goals for the club. He reached the target by scoring the 3rd Teams first goal in their 3-1 away win over Filton Athletic. This was the 3rds second straight
win so it looks as though they are turning their season around after a slow start.
Congratulations go to 1st Team striker Sam Payne on making his 100th appearance for the club against St.Aldhelms on Saturday (15/01/2011). He is also in line to make it an award double at the end of season presentation, needing only a dozen more goals for his 100. Easily achievable on recent seasons statistics.
1st Team player Steve Rice suffered a broken right leg on Saturday (30/10/2010), while playing in a GFA Cup 2nd round match against St. Aldhelms. He will almost certainly miss the remainder of this season (a big loss of a key player for Tony Palmers side) and could also be off work for some time. We will be having a collection for 'Ricey' at the club next Saturday, so please bring an extra few quid with you to help out and show your support. Everyone at FOB send him best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
On a lighter note long serving striker and all time club 2nd highest goal scorer Kev Morris played his 500th game on Saturday, setting up a goal in the 4th Teams 6-3 victory at Coupland Insulation.
On Saturday (09/10/2010) Jeff Slateford, the clubs longest continuous serving player made his eagerly anticipated and momentous 1000th appearance. After being stuck on 999 for the last couple of weeks due to a rare injury, 'Slates' pulled on the Fishponds shirt for the 1000th time to achieve the landmark in the 3rd teams Suburban League division 3 defeat at Old Georgians Res.
Everyone associated with Fishponds Old Boys FC, past and present would like to congratulate Jeff on his achievement and thank him for his commitment and dedication ever since his debut in 1976 as a teenager.
He should be immensely proud as we all are. We're sure there's still a few seasons left in those legs yet!!
